Guava
Native to much of South America, the red Guava thrives naturally throughout Brazil where it is widely cultivated and sought after for its delicious taste and versatility in the kitchen. As a result guava plays a significant role in the Brazilian diet and is excellent as a juice, puree, sorbet or ice cream. Pulpa 'Guava' is simply the crushed and frozen fruit with the seeds removed and nothing added.
Nutritional content Guava not only tastes great, but is both low calorie and packed full of important nutrients and minerals. Consequently, guava has been consumed by the indigenous tribes of the Amazon for hundreds of years and the bark and leaves of the tree have a long history of medicinal uses. Nutritionally guavas are bursting with antioxidants and vitamins A,B,C, along with pectin (a dietary fibre), iron and phosphorus. Guava also contains calcium which is not commonly found in fruit or vegetables. |
